The young lady drew aside with great ' : dignity before this affront, and when; she entered the supper-room the pallor uhd trouble in her face at' once attracted the notice of the Emperor as she took her place at his Majesty's table. In 'great anxiety he rose and passed . behind . her chair to ask what had happened. " What is the matter ? Pray tell me." The marked and sympathetic ..attention of'the Emperor drew all eyes upon the lady, who became •covered with confusion.
