SCHOOL CONFERENCE.

••*•- . A conference of the delegates from School Committees within the. County of Bruce, with a view to secure unanimity of .actionin electing members of'the Education Board, was held in the Tokomairiro school on Saturday. The following gentlemen were present : — Messrs J. C. Brown (Chairman), Clark, and Marryatt, Tokomairiro ; Nelson, Lovells Flat ; Douglas, Waihola ; - Johnston, Fairfax ; Tulloch', Glenore ; Armstrong, Hillend ;■ Sinclair, Adams Flat ; and Bennetfco, Table Hill. ■• Tho Chairman: haying explained the object of the meeting, mentioned that, the Tokomairiro School Committee had nominated Messrs Clark, Adams, Fulton, Reid, De Lautour, Green, Shand, Fraer, J. W. Thomson and F. Wayne. Mr Douglas thought the meeting should endeavour to secure one member each for Bruce, 1 Clutha, and.' Tuapeka. Waihola had nominated Messrs Fulton and Wayne, but in addition to these, it, was suggested that Messrs Clark, •DeTLaut.our, D. Reid,. H. Bastings, A. C. Begg, Bannerman and Shand, were those that they would sup T port. 4. Mr . Clark . said it was hot yet -known, what" representative would be' selected by the Clutha County as its representative but it was very important that- Clutha and Bruce should work to each others hands. . Messrs. Clark, Fulton, D. Reid, De Lautour, Adam, Fraer, Shand, F. Wayne, and J. W. Thomson were suggested as the nine for whom the. Committee should ; -vote. , In the coiirse of the discussion that ensued, Mr Marryatt pointed' out the number of Tokomairiro. names upon the list. Mr Douglas thought that , by .voting for nine members, they might not- get any.
