MATAU ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the Matau Road Board was held inthe schoolhouse, Inch Clutha, on Saturday evening.There were present : Messrs Inglis (Chairman), Anderson, Mosley, and Bell. . MINUTES. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. RESIGNATION. A letter was read from Mr P. Smith, resigning his seat as a member of the Board, and the same was accepted. The Chairman suggested that the inhabitants of Kaitangata should be asked to nominate a gentleman to fill, the vacancy, and he' could be appointed to the office at next. meeting. The suggestion was agreed to. ' AN OBSTRUCTION. Mr G. Wilson wrote asking an extension of time to remove spars from the river bank at Mosley's. After some discussion arid some demurring as to Mr Wilson's negligence in the matter, it was resolved that unless the whole of the timber be removed within one month of that date legal proceedings be adopted against Mr Wilson. TENDERS. Cutting ditch cross road, Inch Clutha,, T. Rowley, lis 3d per chain ; clearing ditch, centre road,, T. Rowley, 5s 6d per chain. Removing metal from Swamp road to Kaitangata, Thos. Stevens, 3s per chain. The above tenders were accepted. Surfacing coal road. ' Only one tender was received, and it being considered too high, fresh tenders were, ordered. Cleaning ditch, near Stirling, T. Rowley, 13s 8d per chain; James Ramsay, 7s 6dper chain. The latter tender was accepted. Forming culvert near old manse, Robert M'Kinlay, L 42 10s; W. Watt, L 39 9s.' The latter tender was accepted: . ACCOUNTS. W. Watts, metal contract at Stirling-, balance, L 44 7s lOd ; Mr M'Kinlay, labour, L 3 17s ; Clerk's salary and expenses, LlB 2s 6d ; Clutha Leader, advertising, L 8 4s ;. W. Henderson, solicitor, 10s 6d. The above were passed for payment. KAITANGATA. PUNT., - . Mr Mosley reported that Mr Bell and he had examined the Kaitangata.Punt and found some calking and a block required. The matter was left in the hands of the Committee to' get what .was necessary carried but. Adiscussion ensued, arid strong opinibns : were expressed that from the little advantage that was being taken of the punt it was unnecessary longer to maintain /it. '■ No definite action was, however, resolved upon for the, time, being. , cbNTI-A'CT 'COMPLETED. Mr Mosley reported that he believed' Mr Taylbrls contract for cutting a ditch iii Inch Clutha was : completed.
