CLUTHA, TAPANUI, AND MATAURA BUILDING SOCIETY.

TO THE EDITOR,

Sin, — Can any of your readers inform me by whose authority the books of the above unfortunate society have been taken, to Duuediu ? We pay the secretary a very high salary, for all he has now to do, and if he is not competent to.keep the books the sooner he resigns the better. I have just learned that these books have been put into the hands of an accountant in Dunedin, and that he Las found it "necessary to make them up from the date of tlie late Mr Russell's- death. ' This will cost a very large sum, and having been done without the authority bf the members, the Committee must personally bear the cost : of , their unauthorised proceedings: — I am,', etc., Shareholder.
