-» — Mr Henry Driver (ou behalf of the N.Z.L. and M.A. Co), reports for the week ending January 30th, 1873 : — Fat Cattle. — The market to-day was supplied with 159 head, good to fair quality, and we are unable to report any improvement upon tlie dulness which has prevailed for tlie last month. In fact 60 head had to be turned out of the yards unsold. Prices realised for best bullocks, from L 9 to Lll ; do cows, from L6to L 8 10s— or equal to about 23s to 25s per 1 001 b for prime quality. At tho yards we only sold 25 head, holding over the balance for next week. Fat Calves.— Only four came forward, and sold at from 15s to 30s each. Fat Sheep. — 2015 were penned, which was again greatly in excess of trade requirements, consequently an exceedingly dull market resulted, 800 being held over till next week. Those realised for best cross-breds. from 7s 6d to 10s, 6d — or equal to scarcely lAd per lb. At the yards we placed several small lots at above rates. Fat Lambs. — This market was also over-sup-plied with 518, of which 100 were turned out unsold. Prices ranging from 4s to 7s Gd, according to size and quality. We sold 225 head at above rates. Store Cattle.— The low prices ranging for fat cattle have a decidedly depressing effect on the price ot stores. Best well-bred quiet bullocks may be valued at from L 6 to L 7 ; do cow.s, L'S 10s to L 4 10s. Store Sheep. — Thero is an active demand for every description of sheep, with tho exception of aged merinos. Cross-bred lambs are saleable at 5s to 5s Gd ; do, 2-tooth, Gs to 6s Gd ; 4-tooth and upwards, 7s to 7s Gd; merino lambs, 5s to 5s Gd ; do ewes, two, four, and six-tooth, 6s to Gd. At above prices we have disposed of 8000. Sheepskins. —Very su.all supply this week in wool. Prices unaltered in value. Pelts, 4d to lOd each. Hides. — Demand inactive. Good-conditioned wet-salted, 4d per lb ; green butchers', 21s to 21s Gd. Tallow, — Demand is good ; prices are lower, influenced by low rates ruling in London, 27s to 28s for good ; medium, 24s to 26s * inferior, 20s to 235. Graiu. — Wheat is very languid : 4s to 4s 6d for good old milling samples ; new is inquired for, but none ready for market. It will take a month's good hard weather to make new wheat fit for grinding or shipping. Oats : Fair demand for feed, 3s 6d; milling, none offered. Barley : Nothing doing except in a few parcels at 3s to 3s 3d per bushel.
