At the meeting on Monday evening Mr Charles Bowie was called to the chair. The Secretary read the following report of the Committee : — Your Committee have the honour to report that they commenced the yeur 1877 with £94 5s Id to their credit, and contracts in hand to the amount; of £95 9s. The Inspector reported favourably on the contract for removing and reerecfcing schoolhouse and residence, and the accounts were paid. There was also due the late Tuakitoto Cemmiltee £2 is 6d, and to the present Committee, as an advance account £13 lis. Your Committee were unable to reduce the debt due to the Tuakitoto Committee, and have only reduced the advance account by £2 fig, this sum being given by Mr Nelson in aid of the school funds. Your Committee had their attention drawn by the teacher to the necessity of additional school acconnt odatioi). owing to the increase in the number of children attending; the school, aud i*e.olverl to build an additional room at a cost not exceeding £50. Th*. Education Board were applied to, and pi-omised to give £:i5 towards. the erection cf the additional room. The Secretary wa*. requested to draw out a plan and specifications for tlie new building, which were approved! of by the Inspector of the Education Board, aod tenders called for the works. The tender of George Wilson for the sum of £47 was accepted, which is now finished and passed by the In-

Your Committee have be<_n able to dispose of the pump belonging to the Tuakitoto school for tin* sum of £8, which will be paid when the pump is delivered to Mr King. Milton. Your CommiC-eo have also ordwrcd a black-board from .Mr Georg*Wilson for the use of the school, and also vofcf-d the sum of £2 to wards pvizes for the school children at the examination.
As shown by the balance-sheet, your Committee have expended the sum of .4.149 17s, of which the Education Board contributed £129 5s Id ; your Committee raised £13 7s sd, leaving a balance due to the Tuakitoto Committee of £2 4s fid.
Your Committee have to express their thankfulness for the assistance given by the settlers in contributing to the school building fund, and are happy to have to report that the school is still increasing in the attendance, wliich now amounts to 49 ou the roll, and the attendance for the quarter ending Dec. 31 was 47.
On the motion of Mr Twemlow, seconded by Mr M'Donald, the repoi't was adopted. The following gentlemen were then elected as the new Committee : — Messrs Nelson, Bowie, M'Donald, Twemlow, Harvey, Marshall, and Robson.
A vote of thanks to the Chairman concluded the proceedings.
