THE TAPANUI SHOW.
The second annual show of the Tapanui Agricultural and Pastoral Society was -held' in Messrs Creagh and Co.'s paddocky on 28th December. Barring a slight shower in tbe course of the •atterndon, ? the weather was favourable, and there was adargenumber of visitors, including a good sprinkling of the fair sex. There were several alterations in the arrangements of the Committee this year, and the ring provided for the judging of horses and cattle, certainly was a great improvement upon the confusion of last year. So far as regards a good many of the classes, the show could scarcely be regarded as a success In the shorthorn class there was only three entries — a bull, a heifer, and a cow. The show of sheep was very poor, and considering the character of tbe surrounding country, this seems unaccountable, unless upon tbe grounds that the show was held too late in the season for sheep. Of hacks there w as a poor turn out. In the classes of maresand geldings, and Ayrshire cattle, the show was very good, the entries being numerous, and the quality of the exhibits good. The dairy produce show was a complete success. It was held in Mr Mair's new buildings, and attracted much attention. The following is the prize list.
CATTLE. Attending members: Messrs David Robertson and John Dickson. Judges : Messrs James Hay, Robert Miller, and J. M'Jntosb.
