Road Bo ards.
SOUTH MOLYNEUX BOARD. The ordinary monthly meeting- of this Board was held on Thursday, November 29. There were present : Messrs Jowitt (Chairman), Bradfield, M'Lean, Paterson, and Johnston. The minutes of previous meeting 1 were read and approved of. Mr Nathan Veitc'i appeared at the Board, and said he did not wish to put them to any unnecessary expense in taking 1 the road through his property under the Public Works Act, as he was willing to give them a legal title to it at any time, and would leave it to them to decide whether he was entitled to compensation for extra fencing- or not. The Board thanked Mr Veir-ch for his liberal offer, and appointed Mr M'Gregor to examine and report on the same. Mr Jowitt reported that the Clutha County Council had agreed to expend the sum of L 8 on the road between the Lower and Upper Owake Flats. A letter was read from Mr John Shaw, Finogand, requesting the Board to make satisfactory arrangements with him regarding the road running through Mr Griffith's farm, Waitepeka subdivision. It was resolved that Messrs Brugh, Melville, and Steven, be appointed a Committee to arrange with Air Shaw, and all parties interested, and report. Mr William Griffith appeared personally at the Board, and made application for compensation to the amount of L3O, for a road through sections 13, 14, and 15, block 111., Waitepeka subdivision. Referred tosame Commitfeeappointed to report on Mr Shaw's letter. The Chairman read a letter from the Treasury, Wellington, enclosing duplicate voucher for the sum of L 169 19s lOd, being first instalment of subsidy due the Board under the Financial Arrangements Act, 1876. A letter was read from Mr Alexander Ironside, requesting the Board to pro- ' tect him from cattle straying on the ; road-line and breaking down his fences. it \v;is resolved that the Clerk call for tenders for a Hanger to look after road-line* 1 and Port Molyneux Township Reserve, as no tender hud been received to lease a portion of .the Reserve, the Board to issue yearly licenses to ratepayers and residents to run cattle on the whole of the Reserve, and all cuttle found straying on fenced road-lines alter December 31 will be impounded. Tenders were opened for seven contracts, the lowest, tender being accepted for each as follows: — Contract No. 121, John Lalutap, L 2 10d-; 122, Isaiah Potikia, LlO ; 123, Robert Wilson jun., LQ 10s; 124, James Miller, Li 15*; 125, James Miller, L 8 15s 6d -, 126, Robert Wilson jun, Ll4 7s 6d ; 127, Daniel M'Laren, L2O. Accounts were passed to the amount of Lol 7s. An account from Clutha Leader, L 8 14a/was held over to next meeting. The Inspector was instructed to lay off works in Ahuriri and Catlins River subdivision, and call lor tenders for next meeting. The Board adjourned till the last Thursday in Decemher, at noon.
