It having been resolved at a Public Meeting held in Barr's Hall on the evening of the 29th ult., that a house-to-house canvass be made in the town and district for subscriptions in aid of the above Fund, and a Committee— composed of the following gentlemen ; Revs. M'Ara, Carr, Knowles, and Messrs M'Neil, Turnbull, Ritchie, Heath, Farrar, Whyte, Fleminghaving been appointed to superintend the work, it is hereby notified that arrangements have been made for the canvas* being carried out without delay. It has also been resolved that contributions in produce or goods of any description will be received at Barr's Hall, the same to be sold by auction on behalf of the Fund.
