It having' been resolved at a Publio Meeting held in Barr's Hall on the evening of the 29th ult. ,* that a house-to-house canvass be made in the town and district for subscriptions in aid of the above Fund, and a Committee — composed of the following gentlemen : Revs. M f Ara, Carr, Kno'wles, and- Messrs M'Neil, Turnbull, Ritchie, Heath, Farrar, Whyte, Fleminghaving been appointed to superintend the work, it is hereby notified that arrangements have been made for the canvass being carried out without delay. It has also been resolved that contributions in produce or goods of any description will be received at Barr's Hall, the same to "be sold by auction on behalf of the Fund. Notice is hereby given, that a QUARTERLY LICENSING MEETING for the following Licensing Districts will he held as follows :— For the town of Balclutha, Clutha, Clydevale, Popotunoa, Clinton, South Molyneux, Catlins, Kaitangata, and Matau, at the Resident Magistrate's Court, Balclutha, and for the Licensing Districts of Waihola, town of Milton, Glenledi, Crichton, Tokomairiro, Balmoral, and Mount Stuart, at the Resident Magistrate's Court, Tokomairiro, on TUESDAY, the <4th December, 1877, at noon, for the purpose of taking into consideration all applications for certificates for such licenses as by ** The Licensing Act 1873 Amendment Acts 1874 and 1875," are authorised to be granted by Licensing Courts, and the transfer or removal or renewal of such licenses of which 21 days' notice shall have been given to the Clerk of the Licensing Court for the District in which the premises, in respect of which such application is made, are situated.
