FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' FETE.
Arrangements have been in progress for . sometime past for holding a Friendly Societies' Fdte on 16th .November. These are already so far advanced, and are meet- . ing with such an amount of favour, that" 1 there is no doubt that the fete will take place, and will be upon a scale of magnitude never before witnessed in tho Clutha. The suggestion originated with the Lawrence Sooietios, and we -understand those in the Tokomairiro, Clutha., and other districts are heartily co-o*>urat\ ing. The fete, which is intended fco be s--an annual one, will bo held in Mr IvPKenzie's paddock, Inch Glutha, that gentleman having kindly consented to give the same free of charge. The Lawrence brass band will be in attendance, and other * elements of attraction will not be wanting. We shall be able to give more full particulars by-and-bye. In the meantime we trust tho local Societies will bestir themselves in tho matter so as to givo their brethren in other quarters a welcome worthy of the Clutha.
