The monthly meeting of tbe above Board' r/as bold in the Board's office on Thursday lusi. There were present : Messrs Henderson (Chairman), Jovvitt, Smith, ii' Lean, Bmilield, Hay, Paterson, Johnston-, Christie, Melville, and Stevens. .The minutes of last ordinary and annual meeting 1 were read and confirmed. A letior was read from the Clerk to the Clutha County Council, requesting to be furnished with an account of the amount received by. the Board out of the Clutha County subsidy, and on what works the same had been expended. ■ . It was resolved that the Clerk furnish ■ the return required. A report from Mr Hay on A l . Balloeh's application was read. It was resolved on the motion of Mr Paterson, seconded by Mr Johnston, that the Ahuriri subdivision members be appointed a Committee to consider the same -and report at next meeting, A. . letter was read from the ■ Clutha Road Board, stating that at lust meeting of that Board it was resolved to take no fiction in the repairing- of Mercer's bridge until such time us the dispute t;s to whether the road is private | or .public property, be sattlecL Ie was resolved on too motion of Mr JowiSt, that iho Clerk write for further information on the. matter. ■ Mr Archibald Mercer, Puerua, appeared before the Board and stated that he had no means ot access to a part of his property, and 'requested, the Board to make some arrangements for provid- !' ing* him with a road;' It was resolved that the subdivision 1 niembersj try to .make some arrangement, and report at next meeting*-. \ Mr John Lindsay , appeared, at the "Board, requesting to. know if the Board' intended to abide by. the dotted road through his propert} r in Ahuriri, as he intended to commence fencing. Mr. Lindsay was referred to th 9 Board's decision on the 25th January last. Mr James Paterson was re-elected a .member of the Board of Conservators for the Clutha River Trust. ■ : A' letter whs read from lienry LatitnoTG, Ahiiriri, stating that' the Board was spending the public money,in draining private property, and enclosed an account for L2OO for encroachments on his property. . ■ . It was resolved' that the subdivision members examine the works referred to. and report- at next. meeting. . . , Mr John . ' ' , Accounts were. passed for payment to the. amount of L7G oa<sd. :;" '' : Mr Henderson wrote to the Board, requestiug them to appoint valuators t6 decide as to the, value .of" boundary fence between his* property and, Port Moly-' neux Township Reserve. A long discussion eus.uud on the. subject.: some 1 of the members, did not consider the Board liable for half of the fencing. • -It was resolved that the clerk get the opinion of solicitors pa the matter before "next meeting-. ■ It was resolved on the. motion of Mr Jowitt, seconded by ..Mr Christie, that the four banking institutions in Balclutha be requested, to tender, for the Board's account. A . lonp; 1 discussion ' ensued pn this, motion. Mr Paterson thought it unnecessary, as. the Board was not likely again to have a large amount to their credit at the bank, and he thought the ratepayers would not allow them to borrow from - the bank, as it was an expensive way of borrowing 1 money. Mr Brngh wrote stating that as instructed by the Board, he had sold the posts at the rate of 30s per 100, there btmip; IGO posts in all. The meeting 1 then adjourned.
