SUNDAY DESECRATION.
TO THE EDITOR.
SIE, — As I had the opportunity of witnessing a most disgraceful sight on Sunday, the 2ntl insfc., in front of a -wellknown hotel in Kaitangata, I consider that I would' be neglecting my privilege : as a British subject v/erc Ito allow it to. pass unnoticed. A part}* of riders from Milton who had partaken too freely of the barley bree, were haying their thirst still further allayed, bnt no sooner did they notice the church people, who were qxiietly making their way home, than these riders struck lip " Whisky for my Johnny," with a good chorus ; also other airs of a similar character. One of those who abo witnessed it with me exclaimed, "Poor fellows, they are more to be pitied than blamed," but I hold it everyone's duty to > protest against sxich conduct. I am certain these same gentlemen — I call them such out of courtesy, buf-, they are vnworthy of the name — would blush to do the same thing- in their otto village. — I ■am, &c, Spectator. Kaitangata, Sept. 3, 1877.
