ROAD BOARD RETURNS

The following is the return read at the Clutha County Council meeting held last week : — Grant to Counties for the Year 1877-8. Return to be forwarded to the Treasury on or before the Ist May, 1877. County of Clutha, Provincial District of Otago. 1. Tho value of the rateable property within the above County, upon which rates have, or might have been levied during the year ended 31st March, 1877, as shewn by the Valuators' Roll prepared under the i provisions of " The Rating Act, 1876," is £35,454 5s 6d. 2. The total amount of all general rates actually received during the said years by the above County was — Ell. 3. The total amount received during the said year by the several Road Boards in respect of general rates imposed on the several road districts situated in the above County, as per particulars below, was £1496 2s sd, collected by the South Molyneux Koad Board, on rateable property, valued at £7057 17s 6d £339 19 7 Matau Road Board (part collection) £3228 3s 118 6 G Pomahaka Road Board, on rateable property valued at £8183 ... 239 10 0 Clydevale Road Board, on rateablo property valued at £7300 ... 182 10 0 Clinton Road Board, on rateable property valued at £6597 ... 327 IS 0 Clutlia District Road Board, on rateable property valued at £5758 5s 287 18 4 Total collected as above shewn £1496 2 5 4. The total area of the above County is acres, of which acres are situated in the Provincial district of , and acres in the Provincial district of I, John M'Neil, of Balclutlia, gentleman, do solemnly and sincerely declare that to the best of my knowledge and belief, the foregoing is a true and correct return, and I make this solemn declaration by virtue of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled " The Justices of tho Peace Act, 1866."
