Road Boards.
•SOUTH MOLYNEUX. Tlie monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Thursday last week. 'There were present .-.Messrs D. Hender .?son (chairman), Jowitt, Smith, M'Lean, Lees, Paterson, Hay, Brugh, Christie, •Johnston, Telford, Steven, and Melville. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed.
The returning officers for the several 'subdivisions gave in their reports, and the Clerk was instructed to call a meeting •of ratepayers in tlie Catlins Diver subdivi° ■sion, to appoint one member, to be nominated by the Board at next meeting. Donald Henderson, Esq. , was appointed 'Chairman for the ensuing 3-ear. Dour tenders were received for the offices of clerk and collector, valuator, and 'inspector of works — three tenders for the office of inspector and valuator, and one for clerk, collector, and valuator. James Shi els' tender for the office of clerk? collector, and valuator, for the sum of LSO per annum, was accepted. J. M'Grigor's tender for inspector, at 5 per cent, on all money expended on road works, was accepted.
The Committee appointed at last meeting to reply to the Colonial Secretary's request re suggestions, read a copy of reply "*ent.
The Xollowing accounts were passed for payment : — G. Logan and Co. , L3Bs ; A. Allison, L 3 15s ; James Miller, L 3 ; li. 'Shiels, L 2; Inspector of Works, Ll2 • ■Joseph Walker, L 23 ; Alexander Bain, L 25 ; Robert Wilson, L 7; Mitchell Abervnethy, L 8 8s ; election expenses in Puerua, L 2 ; Clutha Leader, Ll 10s.
Two tenders were received for contract No. 115, Puerua Subdivision :— Edward King, L 32 ; James Johnston jnn., Ll7 10s. James Johnston's tender was accepted.
? Letters were read from George Souness and llobert Chalmers, Puerua. It was resolved that at next meeting the Board intend to make a general rate of Is in the £ on the annual rateable value of all property in the district, said rate to be for the nine months "beginning Ist July 1877, and ending 31st March, 1878. .The Inspector was .instructed tp get a culvert in the Waitepeka Subdvision repaired. Tlie Board then adjorfe-ned.
