WYNDHAM PLOUGHING MATCH.

This match came off on Wednesday, the 27fch dune, in a paddock belonging to Mr John M'Lean, JHJden Bank, on the north bank of tho Mimahau. The weather was line on the day of the match, but the previous rain acted as a considerable drawback, and one splendid team in particular 'was unable to put in an appearance, owing to the liooded state of the Mataura. The paddock was one of four years' old lea, and rather uneven for a trial of skill. Tho soil showed a considerable richness, of good depth, and consequently too easily broken, which, with the frost, made it almost impossible to make such a scientific display as the compel ors seemed anxious ; to accomplish. As the influence of the sun began to take effect the work began to improve, and a better turn and finish soon became apparent all over. There was a fair attendance-, despite a rather chill breeze, which seemed to sharpen tho faces of both competitors and spectators, showing the keen interest taken in the match. The work of tlie single plough seemed to please best, although the double-furrow received the most marked attention. There were seven double and five single-furrows. Several were disappointed in not getting forward. Tlie following is tlie Prize List. Clash A.— Single Furrows.— lst prifee, Silver Medal, and £4; 2nd do., £3 10s; 3rd do., £2 * 4th do., £1. Ist. Jas.
