& . — The following correspondence on the above subject is published in the Guardian : — (To the Editor of the Otago Guardian.) Sir, — The copy of my letter to Dr Stuart, written yesterday, will probably afford a sufficient answer to the charge made against me in your leading article of this morning, of "jumping" the Presbyterian claim at the ' Maori Kaik. I therefore refer you, and any others who may be interested in the mattei*, to that letter, and have only to add that I know nothing at all as to any arrangements made by the Presbyterians with the Bremen Society, and do not consider myself affected by them. I only know that since my residence here there has been no systematic work done among the Maoris, and that I have felt bound fco use every effort to supply for the natives in the South the same Christian teaching which is largely afforded them in the .North Island. — I am, &c., 8. T. Dunedin. Bishop's Court, Saturday morning.
