«. TO THE EDITOR. SlB, — Allow me to draw attention to a phase of the County Bank question that appears to have escaped notice, and that is, the -extraordinary inconsistency of those members who now wish to undo their former action. Mr Henderson proposed Mr M'Neii as Chairman ; and Mr Henderson seconded' the very motion which he now wishes to have rescinded. One must feel sorry for a man who one Aveek nominates a man to the important position of Chairman of a County Council, and next week accuses him of underhand work, — who one week seconds a plainlyworded, straightforward motion, and next week says he knew not what he did, and asks that his own action he undone. Surely a Provincial Councillor of so many years' standing knoAVs the purport of a motion when he hears it proposed. As to the insinuations of hole-and-corner Avork, and influence from bank parlours, tho members who made them should sco that that thrust cuts both Avays. Who deserve best the insinuation of hank parlour influence, the men who carry out the Council's resolution in its integrity, or the men who eat their own words and turn back on their own actions by Avishing to rescind the motion ? These members, in fact, lay themselves fairly open to this charge, or else that of being in themselves a greater mass of incongruities, inconsistencies, and contradictions than even the Counties Act they hold up as such an awful example. — I am, &c, John Blunt.
