[Per Press Agency.] + Tokomairiro, February 8. The river has gone down. The crops are greatly injured. Port Chalmers. The railway hne to town was re-opened for traffic to-day. Allen and Kingstreet, the contractors for the Port Chalmers section of the Moeraki railway, estimate the damage to their contract at £1000. Melbourne. A cargo of New Zealand oats, ex Moa, sold at full rates. A heavy demand for wheat has sprung up, owing to unfavourable advices from New Zealand. Wellington. Wellington twenty-two made 31 in the first innings, and the Englishmen were all out for 190 runs. The Wellington fielding was very good. Wellington played 18 in the second innings, four of the men being absent. The only one who made a stand was Mace, who made 11, and when stumps were drawn at 5.35, all were out for 38. The weather was very bad. 4
