TAPANUI TOWN COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the Town Council was held on the 4th January, 1877. Present : His Worship the Mayor, Councillors Crawford and M' Queen. Proposed by Councillor Crawford and seconded by Councillor M'Queen that the present __ valuator for the Corporation of Tapanui be re-appointed under the « Rating Act, 1876" as valuer for the town of Tapanui, subject to. his acceptance of the office.— Carried. . The ordinary meeting of the Town Council was held on the Bth inst, Present : HisWorship the Mayor, Councillors Craw-r 'A ford, M'Queen, and Hewitt. Minutes of ' former meeting were read and confirmed. . A Letter from Mr Ferguson, Tuapeka -..-. Times j was read, re the type for bye-laws being standing some time without any definite instructions as to. the printing* of the copies of said bye-laws, ordered some months previously. Proposed by Councillor Crawford and seconded' by Councillor M'Queen, that the Town Clerk write to the Waste LandsBoard pointing put the difficulty the Corporation are placed in through the Board-,', not granting them a site for a manure dep6t, as the Corporation cannot havo the blank in their byt-laws filled for submission to His Excellency the Governor for signature, until such site for a manure depot is granted ; and should the reply be favourable, that the blank in the bye-laws be filled in at once, and they be forwarded for signature without delay. — Carried. Letter from Mf William Vallance* read, accepting the office of valuer under the Fating Act, 1876. Proposed by Councillor Crawford and seconded by Coun ill or M'Queen, that Mr ' Vallance's appointment be confirmed.—, . . Carried. ■ * Letter from Mr Howat re valuation of .Messrs'Bremner's and Graham'B property, submitted to. arbitration by Mr b.eir and Mr Howat, was read. -.._'.
