The first Show of the Tapanui and Central Districts, Agricultural and Pastoral' Association was held at Tapanui yesterday, , in -Messrs' Creagh and Co'.'s paddock. Yesterday, broke* fair arid bright, and throughout -the weather was 'splendid, tiie heat of the sun's rays being tempered botli for man .and . beast* .by.. a , cool refreshing freeze. At ah early hour the 'Various "tracks," for they j;an. scarcely be I called roads, leading to the td.wiiship, were seen to be Occupied/by flocks and Sherds, horsemen, foptnreh, .and travellers by all variety of vehicles; and it was ac once apparent that the eventof the day was to be a success.': The exhibits -were fairly 'numerous and, the quality very good indeed, a credit to the- breeders and to the district; Very few could', a few years ago; have anticipated thatby the beginning of the year .187,7... such* a, large h.uinber and variety of fine aiiimals could have been collected together in Tapanui, neither that there could -haye been so larjge' an attendance to witness the first Show. • * • •-"• '- .-■>■
.There were .about 400 present,, numbers from long distances, of whom a fair sprinkling were ladies,- and all, seemed to be much interested in the proceedings. • The following is the prize list : — ' CATTLE.
