&. THE WAITEPEKA DEVIATION". TO THB JJDITOR. SIR, — In your issue of to-day, I observe that you have concluded from the Public Works statement that the route of the railway is decided. It is well known that that was a foregone conclusion, as the authorities have all along Ijeen playing a game of hide and seek vith the settlers, and the farce of certain notables putting the country to the expense of carrying them up aud down the country, making a show all the time of behaviug fairly to the settlers, when all along their minds wer« made up to what they were devoting all their energies to carry out. The Waitepeka settlers have long lost all hope of their wishes being carried out, bufc at the same time, believing in the justness of their claims, are determined to try all lawful means to gain thoir point. Allow me therefore to inform you that the route is not yet decided, and that perhaps the Minister "for Public Works may. find himself wrong for once. — I am, &c, Fair Play.
