AUCTION REPORT.
• Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co. report a*j follows : — Fat Cattle.— A large supply, comprising. 150 head, mainly ordinary to good quality, caused prices to drop fully 2s per lOOlbs. ' We sold on •account of the "N". Z. and A, L. Co., and others, 47 head, at from £10 15s" to £U 7s 6d" for bullocks, and £9 to Ull los, for cows— prices equal to S3s"per 100 lbs for good quality, and 30s for medium ditto." Privately we sold 27 head at equal to 32s per lOOlbs. * •• Fat Calves. — 15 head yarded, which we sold at from 28s to 48s each. Fat Sheep. — A fair number came to hand, 1500 being penned, of which the major portion were good quality. We sold 150 cross-breds at lis 9d to 13s j 200 merino, medium quality, at ss' 9d to 9s. Some -very fine cross-breds belonging to the N.Z. and A.L. Co. brought 15s. _.JWe quote prime mutton, 2-fd per lb. Fat Lambs.— 3so were penned and all found purchasers, but at a reduction on last week's rates. We sold'l36 at from 6s 6d to 10s.' ••* Store Cattle.— We have no transactions to report. - Store Sheep.— Wo have •'buyers for two and four-tooth cross-breds, and for two and four-tooth merinos of both sexes. We quote cross-breds, f our-tooth, 9s ; ditto two-tooth, 8s ; ditto lambs, 7s ; merino wethers, two and four-tooth, 5s 6d ; ditto six-tooth and full-mouthed, 4ft; ditto, jewes two aud four-tooth, Ts to 8s ; ditto full-mouthed, 2s to 3s. We have sold 3900 cross-breds at quotations - Horses. — The demand for Heavy draughts continues slack, but strong cab hbrses are in fair request. At our yards on Saturday the trans-, actions were confined principally to dealers' lota, of which a fair amount changed hands. We quote heavy draughts, £60 to £65; medium ditto, £45 to £55; light ditto, £27 t0.£35; good hacks and light harness horses, £25 to £30; medium ditto, £14 to £20; light and inferior, £5 to £10. Wool.— At our weekly sale,. held on Thursday last, there was a full attendance of buyers. The competition was very spirited, and we disposed of every lot catalogued at satisfactory priceß. Auckland. Oamaru flour £11 10s ; Dunedin, £11 ; Christchurch, £11 ; oatmeal, 14s ; pearl barley, 225 ; bran, 9s ; pollard, ss ; oats, 2s 9d ; maize, 3s 6d ; wheat, 5s 3d ; bacon hams, Is; cheese> LOd : butter, ls. . Fat Cattle, 28s 6d to 32s 6d per 100 lbs ; sheep, 2-fd ; lambs, 8s to 15s. Christchurch. Export prices, f.o.b. — Oats, 2s ; wheat, 4s 6d; for old barley, nominal; flour, £10 to £11; cheese, B^d to 9d ; butter, 9d, The weather is favorable"for harvest operations- New oats will be in market within a week.
