Concert of Sacred Music.
In terms of the advertisement which appeared in oar columns on the 9fch inst., Mr Reid, psalmody instructor in connection with the • Clutha Presbytery, gave a concert in Barr's Hall on the evening of Wednesday, 15th inst. The weather was somewhat stormy and unpleasant; yet notwithstanding; there -was t a large attendance. Most' of the members' of the Clutha Presbytery were present. ' The -Moderator { Mr Paterson, of Waihola), occupied the chair." The choir, which numbered upwards of. fifty voices, .were arranged as' we^l as' the accommodation would permit on tlie platform, which- had been enlarged fer- the purpose. Those who took, part in. the. concert" •were. selected in virtue of their certificates from the 'several •classes; ''arid Mr Reid. certainly deserves praiso fbr-the excellent manner in which. . ho had. been enabled to. balance, the. several parts; The remark was frequently' ,made that the •presence of such an excellent alto part added greatly to the combined ,effect|-- *' riinning, ?
