Best, bullocks Realised from £14 to £18 each ; medium'ditto, from £10 to £14 ; beat »w* from £12 to £1$ medium, from £8 to £10. We quote the price of prime quab.ty beef »t 45s per 100.; medium, 35a.. We yarded about 80 [lead, a portion of which had to be withdrawn, the balance taken by trade at quotations. "We bave also placed 7O.head privately. Fat Sheep.— An excessive supply of 3,000 igain came forward, nearly all of: which were jood quality cross-breds*. The trade being for the most part f aijrly supplied, it was necessary to reduce prices; consequentlr about 2000 were 3isposed of at prices equal to about 4d per lb. Best quality crtMs-brertß brought 17s to 19s 6d; medium, from 14s to 16s. We sold 300 at the Y arda, and have placed 300 privately. : Fat Calves.— None came forward. Store Cattle and Sheep.— We ard still obliged bo report very little business in either description, Mid do not anticipate any large transactions until bhe appearance of spring grass and after shearing Grain.— There is a better demand for wheat this week, in anticipation of 'a rise in flour, good milling bringing' readily 4s 6d per bushel ; choice Northern is wanted, and would find buyers at is Bd. Barley ia unaltered : for malting kinds, 5s 6d to 6s ; inferior is very heavy of sale, at 3s &d to 4s 3d. Oats are dull this week* there being no shipping demand'; we quote feed at 2s 7d to 2s 8d; millinsr, 2s 10d.; to force sales, lower prices would have to be accepted. j Wool.— We are without any farther advices as, to how the London wool sales progress. We are, however,' in frequent receipt of information from, the interior of the province of the fine healthy condition of the flocks, owing to the unusually open winter bringing a constant spring of grass, promising a superior quality^as well as a heavyweighing fleece of woolv which will compensate any slight depreciation in value. Sheepskin's.— We. had a full attendance of buyers at our weekly sale on Friday last. Owing to 'the reported decline in price of wool at the London sales now progressing, a corresponding reduction in prices had to be submitted to of 4d to 6d per skin for cross-breds, and 2d on merinos. We sold green cross-breds at 5s 4s to 63 each ; Leicester*, 6a 6d : merinos, 4s 4d to 4s 7d ; dry cross-breds, 4b lid to ss 4d; merinos, 3s 2d to 4s 2d. Hides continue very dull, our local tanners being still out of the market. In course of the month we anticipate new erections will be in full work, and a better demand. 'We sold good medium hides at 20s ; inferior, 13s to 16s 6d. Messrs. Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report. Fat Cattle.— The market was fully supplied with 140 head, which brought figures equal to last week* rates. We sold 45 head at from £10 10s to £16 for bullocks, and £9 to £14 10s for cows, prices equal to 453 to sn«5 n « per 1001 b. for prime quality, and 35s for medium ditto. We also sold by auction, at West Taieri, on the 6inst. 80 head of prime stall-fed cattle, on account of James Snand, Esq. There was a good attendance of buyers, but the bidding was deficient in spirit. The prices obtained were from £12 10s to £20 per hoad. Fat Calves.— Only a few were yarded, which fetched from 35s to 67s 6d each. Fat Sheep.— The was a full market, 3,000 of all descriptions being penned. Our sales consisted of 525 half-breds and merinos, on account of John Douglas, Esq Mount Royal, at 18s and 16s 9d respectively ; 400 crosa-hreds on account of Mark Dale. Esq. at 17s ; 350 cross-breds on account of Messrs. M'Donald and Doring, at 19s ; and 270 on account of other vendors, at from 11s to 17s. We quote prime mutton 4d per lb. During the week we delivered to the trade 800 sold privately. Store Cattle.— We have numerous inquiries for grown cattle for paddock fattening, but have no transactions to report. We wish to call the attention of graziers to our sale at Mogiel on the 16fch inst, when we shall offer by anction 130 bead of really first class store bullocks and spayed cows. Store Sheep. — We have inquiries for four and six tooth crossbreds' but have no transactions to report. Horses. — There ia a better demand for both draught stock and strong light harness horses. Among the sales at our yards on Saturday was a team ofheavy draught, horses which fetched £48 10s to £70 per head. We would direct "special attention of breeders and othors to sale on Sat unlay, 18th instant, when we shall offer by auction the pure Clydesdale draught stallion Prpsid: ent, and the imported Norfolk trotting stallion Shales. We quote first-class draughts. L 63 to L7O ; medium ditto, L 45 to LSO ; light ditto, L 25 to L 35 ; good hacks and light harness horses, L 25 to L 35 ; medium ditto, Ll4 to L2O ; light and inferior, L 5 to LlO. Sheepskins. — A.t our weekly sale on Thursday the attendance was good, and prices showed an advance of 3d to 6d per skin on last week's rates. We catalogued a large number which sold as follows : — Butchers' green skins, half-breds. 5e 7dto6ssd ; merinos, 4s 7d to 5s Id; stations skins, 3s 9d to 5s Bd. Hides. — We catalogued 144 lisjht and mediutr weights, Which fetched from 14s 9d to : "21s 9c each, or equal to 4d per lb. . ... Grain. — There is a fair demand for wheat; without perceptible alteration in value. We sold 24,000 prime quality at 4s 6d to 4« 7d, which we quote as market rates. For oats there is" a fair inquiry for local consumption at 2s 8d to 2s lOd p^r bushel. Barley : little offering. Good mal--I tine worth 5s 6d to 53 9d per bushel ; inferior,, dull of sale. . ... New York, August 17th. Wool is more active, and prices variable. Sales — Calif ornian spring, 18 to 35 cents. B,oston sales large. No Australian quoted. San Francisco, August 17th. The wheat market is weaker, but there is no pressure to realise. 'Little Is offered for less than 2 dols. 25 cents. Flout, superfine, 5 idols, to 5 dols. 50 cents. ! ■ ' Liverpool quotation* for wheat are 1103 to 1203. The usual amount of : barley is offering. San Francisco brewing, 1 dpi. 65 cent's to 2 dols. 80 cents. Wool, choice long, 24 to 27 "bents a" pound. 'Auckland.
