Wednesday, 8 p.m. (From our own Correspondent.) . {BY BiEGTMO TBIdSGBAPH. The "annual election of Mayor for' the City of Dunedin took place to-day. There were two candidates— Mr Reeves . and Mr Walter. But little excitement was manifested during the day, owing to the cold and inclement state bf the wt ather. Walter beat his opponent in every Ward. , The following is the result :— Walter - - 1048 Reeves - . ■.*. 682 Majority. for Walter . - 366 Mr Reeves attributed his defeat to Mr Walter having contested the Mayoralty last year, and to his seniority as a Councillor.
