Fat Cattl-s. — The number yarded was 100 head.- Acting for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Mr ksNRV Driver reports : — " The bidding throughout was characterised by a great want of activity, which no doubt resuhvd from tbe fact that the trade have been largely supplied from private deliveries. About 85 head of tbe above number were sold, the rest being held over. Best quali-y did not realise over 30s pe** 1 -O lbs. 1 sold fifty head on account of Messrs Ironside, Lindsay, Mansell, and others ; and have placed thirty head privately duria!. the week. Mao-ban Pros, report having sold on account of Mr George Nichol and others, twenty head very prime, which realised Lll 15s to Lls 7s 6d for bullocks, and from LlO 17s 6d to Li2 5s for eows. Their quotations are— Prime beef, 35s te 40s per lOOlbs ; medium and inferior, 25s to 30s Wkk-wt, Stephenson and Co sold twenty-seven head at for cows, L7 to LlO 15s ; bullocks, Ls to Lll 10s. They sold privately forty-five head at prices equal to 34s per lOOlbs. They quote prime quality 83s to 85s per lOOlbs ; mediom, ditto, 25p. Fat Calves.— Only a few were yarded, which realised late quotations — say from 20a to 50s, according to size and quality. Wright | Stephenson, and Co. report on the sth inst. —Good vealers worth 40s to 50s. Fat Sheep.— About six hundred were pened, and sold at prices fully equal to late quotations. • Fat sheep not coming forward so freely as might be expected, is no doubt attributable to most fiockowners being busy shearing. At the yards and privately Mr H. Driver disposed of six hundred during the week, and quite market value for cress-breds in the wool, 4£d to4|d j merinos, 4d. Messrs Maclean Bros, quote cross-breds, in the wool, 23s to 27s 6d ; merinos, 14s to 15s 6d ; shorn merinos and cross-bred ewes mixed, 1 5s. Cross-bred mutton, in the wool, 4sd to 5d ; ditto merino, 3|d to 4d. They disposed of 200 merinos at the above quotations. 300---half-breds were disposed of by Wright,. Stephenson, and Co. at from 25s to 27s 6d. They quote prime half-breds 4Jd to 5d per lb,, ditto merinos, 4£d. F„t Lambs.— About one hundred and seventy-five were penned and sold at from 7s 6d to lis, according to quality. Mr H. Drivrr sold eighty at quotations. Writing on the sth inst. Wright, Stephenson, aitd Co. report fat lambs co tinue to come freely forward. We sold 120 at from 8s 3d to lis 9d. Store Cattle.— Well grown bullocks and cows are saleable at from L5 to L7 for tha former, and L4 to L5 for the latter ; mixed herds at from 50s: During the week Mr H. Driver sold 300 head. On the 27fch ult. Maclean Bros, held a sale of 300 head of stores at Crawford's yards, Palmerston. There was a good attendance of buyers, and all the lots, offered were sold at full market rates. They quote good well-grown bullocks. L6 to L7 per head ; spayed cows, L3 10s to L5 j mixed herds, 50s to 60s, according to breeding aod quality. Wright, Stephenson & Co. report having inquiries for growing bullocks. Thev quote bullocks, three to five yeaw, at from L5 to L7 ; cows, L3 15s to L4 10s : mixed lots, L3toL3 10s. Store Shbep.— -The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company by their agent (Mr H. Driver) report having had noimportant transactions They sold, however, during the week a few odd lots of shorn ewes, and wethers. Cross-breds, 4-tooth and upwards, shorn, are saleable at from 8s 6d to 10s 6d, according to quality ; ditto hoggets afc from 7s 6d to 9s. Young merino ewes aad wethers inquired for. Messrs Wright, Stephenson, aDd Co. report, of date the sth inst;., As we are now in the middle of shearing, very little business is doin? in this class of stock. Our sales consist of five hundred and eighty half-breds at 8., and seven hundred and fifty mixed half breds and merinos, culls, at ss. We also sold fifty Leicester rams at a satisfactory price. We quote two and four-tooth shorn half-breds, 8s to 9s ; merino wethers. 9b to 10s. ' Grain Market — Messrs Wright, Stepheison and Co. report for the week ending sth inst — Wheat continues in demand, and prime samples are saleable at from 5s Sd ta 5s 64 per bushel. Oats are scarce, and wanted at from 5s 6d for fair feed up to 6s for milling samples. Barley — good malting saleable at from 5s to 5s 6d per bushel, according to quality • feed at 4_ 3d to 49 6d. Messrs Maalean Bros report for the week ending 3rd inst — Quotations temain unaltered, viz. : Prim » samples wheat, '5s 6d to 5s 9d ; medium, 4s 61 to 4s 9d 5 malting samples barley, 5s 3d to 5i 6d ; medium, 4s 6d to 5s ; prime samples oat. 5s 9d to 6s. Mr H. Driver reports for tha' week ending 2nd inst— Wheat remains at about last week's quotations, with good demand, at say 5s 6d for really good samples. For good feed oats and milling samples 5s 6d to 6s can be obtained. Good malting barley samples are worth 5s to 5s 6d j feed do, 4s 3d to 43 9d Oamaru.— The local paper reports— The price of flour is advancing a further rise .of 10s having been established. Present quota* tion Ll3 to Ll3 10s. Grain — prices same as last quoted, with brisk demand. Adelaide.— The last quotations for wheat (27th ult) 4s 6d. Wooi. Bales. — The following cablegram was received from the London office of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. : — Wool sales opened at level of last sales ; comprise about 88,000 bales. Seven thousand bales have been sent to the manufacturing districts direct. For Cape of Good Hope scoured the market is easier.
