— » Messrs. Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report for the week ending August Ist as follows :— Fat Cattle — 150 head were yarded, beino* in quantity fully up to the requirements of the trade. We sold, on account of Mr. Souter, 32 head at from L 7 lCs to LB lss for bullocks, and L5 J5s to L 8 5s for cows: prices equal to 30s per loOlb for -prime quality. . Fat Calves— 24 head were penned, which sold readily at from 25s to 40s each-. Fat Sheep. -Only a moderate supply came forward, causing* prices to advance beyond previous rates. 750 of aU sorts were penned, realising* 23s each for good half-breds, and 7s to 9s for merinos of only middling quality. We sold, privately, 300 crossbred Southdowns, pi 14s 6d each; 1000 halfbreds, at 4d per lb -, 460 merinos, at 3id per lb, forward delivery. We quote prime half breds at 3 ld to 3jtt per lb ; do, merinos, 3Jd. -- Store Cattle.— No transactions. Store Sheep.— We have inquiries for merino and crossbred wethers, former of which we quote at 6s ; 6d to 7s, and latter at lis to 13s each. .

Horses.— There is still a good demand for heavy draughts and strong 1 ghfc harness horses. We quote first-class draughts L6O to L7Q ; medium do, L 35 to L 4 5; good strong light liarness horses, L3O to L 3 5; medium do, HI to L 18; light and inferior, L 7 to La • Wool. — There is no further intelligence relative to the London wool market iurnished hy telegrams lately received. At our weekly sale, we disposed of a few odd lots, cl^eflyfellmongers , parcels. Sheepskins.— On .Wednesday there was a fall mustc of buyers at our weekly sale, and all 'he lots were well competed for. We sold butchers' green skins, merinos. 3s Gd each ; crossbreds, 4s 4d to 4s 5d ; pelts, ls 4d ; dry station skins, 2s 7M to 3s lid, according to qualify. Hides.— Well-cured lots are in demand. We sold several parcels at from 12s to 15s 6d for l'giit to medium weights, and from 19s 6d to 22s od for heavy do. Grain.— The tone of the market is languid, though witudut any alteration in values. Wheat : Prime Bamples are worth 4s jii to 55.; inferior, 4s to 4s 3d, Oats have a fair local inquiry at from 4s 2d to 4b 3d for good feed, aud 4s 4d for milling samples. Dunedin-, July 81. A. Mercer reports for the week ending 31st July (retail prices only)— Fresh butter is now so scarce that the demand for it prevents anything like classing the quality. Fresh butter, anything passable, is 2s per lb, and grocers in many instances have had to send their customers half the quantity ordered. Salt buttter on that account is selling well at ls 7d to Is Sd for first-rate quality Cheese, best quality, lOd to ls per lb, and the market, as yet, is well supplied. Bacon, lOd to Is per lb. Colonial hams, ls to ls 2d per lb. Engliah hams are seldom asked for, and the markets are well supplied— ls 4d to ls od per lb.
