TICHBORNE.

Mr MacMahon has made application to Mr Justice Lush, in Chambers, for an order on the prosecution to produce the roll of all the proceedings in the late Tich borne -trial, with a view to commencing proceedings on a writ of error for a reversal of judgment. The friends of the claimant have had a meeting at Southampton. Among .those present w<re Mr. .Guilford Onslow, Mr. Skip worth, and Mrr Council or Purkess. The wife and children of tbe late claimant were also present. On the motion of Mr Onslow, it. was resolved that that meeting was of opinion that Parliament should be petitioned to memorialise her Majesty to grant a free pardon to the prisoner called Arthur Orton. Dr Kenealy's name was received with great cheering whenever mentioned. Mr Skipworth made an extraordinary address, in the course of which he denounced the throne, the bench, the bar, and the press. He farther said . there was only one way to get tbe claimant; released, and he would like to see processions marching from one end of London to the' other, and even knocking at the palace doors, co long as they failed to. obtain justice. While the friends of Mr Orton were screaming against what they denounce as an unrighteous judgmenr, Mr Justice Brett was sentencing Jean Luie and " Captain " Brown to long terms of penal servitude for bearing false witness in support of his claims,.
