Atliletes from all partS of Now Zealand are arriving at Napier today and tomorrow for tlie national track and field championships and Empire Games trials wliicli begin on Saturday. There is every likelihood of a record-break-ing meeting. The 200 atliletes taking part represent the eream of New Zealand's talent in both men's and women 's sections and condltions are expected to be ideal The track at McLean Park has undergone careful preparation and its condition has never been better for athletics. With fine weather prevailing over the weekend, it is likely that several new national records will be established. When the meeting opens on Saturday morning, the assembly will pay homage to the memory of Dr. J. E. Lovelock whose death was reported from New York today.
