The Acid Test In Asia

Received Wednesday, 9.35 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 20. -- Unless some firm military alliance emerged from the coming Commonwealth conference at Colombo each Asian country would be swallowed up one by one by Communism, the Conservative member of Parliament, Mr. L. D. Gammans, told the Ceylon St-ud-ents' Association in London tonight. "The acid test is not whether a trading or cultural bridge can be maintained between Europe and Asia, but the extent to which the Commonwealth countries and other countries in Asia are prepared to sink their differences and forget their suspicior.s of what they call colonialism and form a common front. For the thne being leadership must rest with the Commonwealth countries."
