F.A.O. Could Help Starving Nations
/ OTTAWA, Dee. 13. The Direetor-General of F.A.O., Mr Dodd, said today he personally believed the nations should give food away if they eould not sell it. He added that starving peoples could be taught to grow more food for themselves if Un ited Nations would give his organisation 5-0,000,000 dollars. This would enable him to expand his staff of techni cal assistanfs from 250 to 750 and send' them to China, India, Pakistan, Egypt and elsewhere. Mr Dodd said there could be no peace without food, no matter how hard the Western world tried to def end itstelf against war. F.A.O. at present reeeived 5,000,000 dollars yearly from United Nations. The question of inereasing the figure to 50,000,000 doll'ars was being considered.
