Reeeived Thursday, 10.10 a.m. NEW YORK, Dec. 14. Between 3.0 and 3:5 persons were killed and more than 100 injured in an explosion at the Swift Company's meat packing plant in Sioux City today. S,ome estimates placed the number of injured as high as 200. The explosion oecurred in the office building of the plant. Eseaping gas hampered rescue work. Firemen, equipped with gasmasks, found some bodies hanging from the tyvist- j ed steel girders of the building. All persons in the eity with Red Cross experience were called on to aid in tending the injured. Five hundred national I guardsmen were4 mobil'ised toi . assist the rescue operations. I Mobile eonstruction cranesj, throughout the city were I rushed to the wrecked building! to disentangle the steel girders. I The plant employed moret than 1000 workers.
