(Special — From
WELLINGTON, Dec. 9. Main interest in tomorrow's racing will centre in the single day summer meeting of the Otaki Maori Racing Club at Otaki as most of the horses engaged in the two principal events, the. Baukawa and Huia Handicaps, have important handicap engagemepts ahead. With Christmas and New Year racing- but a few weeks off form at Otaki tomorrow and Levin iiext week will be watehed with keen interest. The fields at Otaki are not too unwieldy, with the exception of the Kuku Maiden Race and Kuao Stakes, in which divisions have been provided for. Ruling favourite f'or the Raukawa Handicap is Outlook, with solid following also for Golden Spa, who will be suited by the Otaki course. Favourites for the sprint are Faultina and Veine d'Or.
The Raukawa Handicap has drawn a good field with the three-year-old Goi'den Spa, Outlook, The Missioner and Merry Ro'bin having the best recent form to recommend them. Golden Spa, who has been racing consistentiy and Outlook, a solid type oi four-year-old . may prove to be the hardest to beat. They are both at the peak of their form and if Golden Spa has freshened up after his recent hard racing ac Trentham and Riccarton his telling finishing elfort, whidh is characteristic oi his racing, might have the edge on Outlook, who is likely to de favourite. Lord Manna is gradually regaining form as also are Barrage, who always races well at Otaki, Imperial, another to appreciate the turning Otaki course, Blue Seal, and Robin s Rewara. However, on form it reads like Golden Spa, OuJook, The Missioner and Merry Rooin fighting out the issue with Golden Spa the most likely to hold the edge on his opponents. Form is well distfibuted in the Huia Handicap and with such class sprinters as Faultina, Demonic, Castlebrae, Veine d'Or, Wiid Note and Brookland engaged an interesting finish shornd ensue. . Faultina, Castlebrae and Veine d'Or have all won at their last starts, while Brookland, Faultina's stablemate, is- a 'good "mixer" and not without exceilent, prospects. The distance will suit both Demonic and Wild Note, bodi of whom are approaching their best form. It is a rather difficult race to sum up but on form Veine d'Or, who won well over the same distance at Feilding, Faultina and Castlebrae may fight it out with Demonic and Brookland the likely two to upset form guide, Form prospects for Otaki, Waipa and the New Brighton Trots are:
