Conviet's Hoax About Quintuplets
Received Thursdav, 7 p.m. BOGOTA, Dec. ». A eonvict serving a term for murder tried to get out of gaol by inventin'g the story that a sister-in-law had given birth to quintuplets. The original Press report which was eabled throughout the world on December 5, said five boys were born to Maria Axroyave, the 22-year-old wife of an illiterate farm labourer in the remote village of Angosture Norte. Reporters seeking the quintuplets today discovered the couple had five children — but the ages ranged from 5 years to 13 years. Luis Arroyave, a convict, admitted he had t perpetrated the hoax in the hope that he might be allowed to visit his "five new nephews. " His story was accepteu i after the local Mayor, who became conjfused on th@ .telephonei confinned it.
