MR. SEMPLE MAY RESIGN MIRAMAR SEAT
WELLINGTON, Dec. 5. The inost colourful figure of the Labour Party 's administration during the past 14 years may sgog^iy)pear from the political scene. , It- nas been suggested by members of the l^abour Party. that the Minister of Works the Hon. R. Semple) is likely to resign the Miramar seat. If he does so, the likely Labour candidate at the byelection would be the Minister of Indus-' tries and Co'mmerce (the Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer), who was defeated for Oamaru. #• The inclusion of Mr Nordmeyer in the depleted ranks of the Parliamentary Labour Party would briiig much-needed strength to the debating ability of the Oppositioh; Tlie defeat of Mr Nordmeyer, together with such vigorous young members as Dr. A. M. Finlay (North Shore) and Mr G. H. O. Wilson (Palmerston North), has left the party. badly oif for debating strength.
