Received Wednesday, 10 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 6. British firms campaigning against threatened nationalisation will not get tax relief on the cost of their propaganda campaigns. They will be unable to put the cost down as a business expense not liable to tax. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir Stafford Cripps, made this clear in answer to a question in the House of Commons today. This is the latest move in the "war" between the Government and Opposition over election expenses, which are limRed ;by law. The Opposition maintains that the threatened industries have full liberty to defend themselves.
