The Levin Borough Council, at its meeting on Mohday night, received two tehders in response to its advertisement ^in connectiOh With 'the layihg of footpaths and some channeling and curbing in new subdivisidns. The successful . tenderer was Mf, H. T, Chanhings, who quoted 8s per square yard for .the footpaths. Coinciding With . this Was a letter from the District Buildihg Cohtroller aUthorisihg the release' of 160 tdns of 'cemeiit for footpath and channeling wotk. To those citizens who tnay look askance at SUbdiVisions receivihg priority over other areas which have long required footpaths, it is pointed oUt that the abOVe WOfk is not a cost on the borough but is beihg borne entirely- by the subdividers, the council mereiy hahdling the tenders and seeing that the work conforms with the standard set down ih the by-laws, • The areas of the" town wliich will reeeive attention will be C.ark Street (594 square yards), Stanley Street Extension (429 square yards), QuinU's Boad (1932 square yards), Bath Street Extehsion (1932 square yards) and Paisley Street (594 square yards) ,
