MR HOLLAND ADVISED
Received Monday 7 p.m. LONDON, Dee. 5. The Economist, commentmg upon the New Zealand Election result, says Mr Holland has a good working majority and it will be interesting to see what he does with it. "After-14 years of Lab our rule, New Zealand has become firmly estabiished a's a welfare state and in spite of the electioneering speeches, it is diffieult to see what major changes Mr Holland will be able to make, ' ' it continues. Almost the only real disputo between Mr Bolland and Mr Fraser was about price controls and import and exports restrictions. While controls over trading vvithin New Zea land can easily be relaxed and probably with beneflt to the community, the future of controls over export trade is a more complex matter. Mr Holland will have to be careful if he is not to lead New Zealand down the path which South Africa followed in 1947- and 1948. He is also likely to meet trouble on the waterfronts and it is just possible that, in spite of his majority, he may have to go to the country again before his term is up. "
