MR. KEARINS AT A LOSS.
WANGANUI, Dec. 5. . Mr. P, Kearins, M.P. for Waimarino, said ' to'nigjit that his telephone had been, ringing almost continuously witn peopie - protesting against the declSion to stop'the sale of liquor till the clubs had charters. He said that he was at a loss to understand why ac-tion had ,bepn taken when no Government was m power. " As soon as Mr! Holland assumes office I wi'll immediately contact him requestiag that the clubs be aliowed to operate under the same conditions as obtained under the previous Governmentj until the Licensing Commission is able to issue charters over the whole of New Zealand," said Mr. Kearins. His interpretation of the Licensing Act and amendments placed all un chartered cllibs in New Zealand on the same basis and there was no separate laws f.or King Country clubs. " It is wrong that clubs in my district only should be. singled out and closed, " he said.- "This is the third attempt to interf ere . with clubs in Waimarino. Two of -these attempts were made in the last ten days. One was made jusi prlo'r to the election and I was successful in having it revoked. ' '
