MASTERTON, Dec. 5. At six o'ciock this morning A large party bf trampers under the leaderghip of Senior Sergeant D. Sugrue left Masterton to assist in the search on Mount Holdsworth for Miss Merle Gwynne, who has been missing on Mount Holdsworth since Saturday afternoon. Members of the Y.M.C.A., Tararua and Hutt Valley Tramping Clubs have joined in the search and since daylight this morning - operations have been intensified. ( Miss Gwynne, who is a daughter ! of the postmaster at Masterton, | strayed from a- party of - Solway College pupils during a climb on Mount Holdsworth. When the party set out, the weather was clear but windy, but rain set in later. Miss Gwynne became separated from her companions, who were unable to find her. ' The Masterton, police were notified shortly after 3 p.m. in the afternoon and large parties were soon- despatched. Searchers yesterday were unable to locate the missing girl, who has now spent two nights in the open in cold conditions, • heavy snow having since fallen.
