Jet-Rocket Plane Reaches 750 m.p.h

The United Press's San Francisco eorrespondent says the Skyrocket, a combination jet and' rocke-t fighter type plane, . made its first public demonstration flight today at the Muroc dry lake hi Galifornia, and reached a speed estimated at 750 miles. an hour. The plane made its- first run over the course eh- jet- power- albne . andi a Na-vy spokesman- estimated it iteached about 670- miles- an hour. . The plane used jet power and four rocket engines; on the second run and observers estimated- it , reached 750j miles an hour. The rockets belched' a ten- foot stream of flame behind the plane J which streakedi along about 30' feet above the ground, and then zoomed- to 13,000' feet. The test pilot said later that he used the full power for only about ten- seconds. He said he felt only slight turbulence at the highest speed.
