The plane used jet power and four rocket engines; on the second run and observers estimated- it , reached 750j miles an hour. The rockets belched' a ten- foot stream of flame behind the plane J which streakedi along about 30' feet above the ground, and then zoomed- to 13,000' feet. The test pilot said later that he used the full power for only about ten- seconds. He said he felt only slight turbulence at the highest speed.
