Mr. Holland To Spend Quiet Weekend On Farm
CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 2. In order to find (those peaceful surroundings in which he can give uninterrupted consideration to the many questions awaiting his urgent attention, the Prime Minister-elect, Mr. Holland, will spend the weekend on his farm at Greta Paddock, Motunau. The need for such ,a break is evident to any visitor to Mr. Holland at 53 Derby Street. Three telephones ring continuously, telegraph messengers arrive almost- on each other's heels with batches of telegrams and cables in wire baskets, there is a steady stream of callers on the lawn, movie cameramen churn away and in the middle of it all Mr. Holland remains. cairn and completely selfpossessed. His present intention is to attend J the Canterbury Jockey Club meeting at Riccarton tomorrow, leaving after the races for Greta Paddock. He will return to Christchurch either 011 Sunday night or Mon^ay morning and it is his intention t.o leave for Wellington by steamer express on Monda,y night. An important engagement next week will be the meeting of the Dominion executive of the NafiOhal Party iii Wellington on Thursday and Friday. This morning Mr. Holland's day really started with a telephone eall from the Daily Express, London, at 1.30 a.m., when he was given a cordiql message from Lord Beaverbrpok.
