Evening Sports Again Well Attended
A thrilling programme of athletie and cycling events was furnished at the Otaki Domain last night, with many keen finishes keeping the crowd from pondering on the eleetion issues to be faced on their return home. As at previous meetings, new competitors made for iuteresting contests and supporters generally agreed that these were forth- ■ coming. Des. Smith, riding as never toefore, won both open cycle events, with W. Foster returning to form to capture both the open 10Q and 220 senior running events with convincing performances. A real thrill was provided when a young lad, W. Andrews, prominent in fooys' roadster ' events last year, dashed into the lead in the open five mile cycle contest 'during the bell lap. He looked as if he was going to hring off a real triumph, but his condition gave out when in sight of home. The crowd was not slow to applaud the effort. Results were as follows: —
