The second house fire in the same week occurred at 'Paraparaumu on Saturday night when at 10.40 p.m. a call was received by the Volunteer Fire Brigade to a vacant house on the Field estate, formerly occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Jones. As the •dwelling had earlier been condemned, and the approach was a difficult one over paddocks, the brigade could do little tout see that the fire did not spread. The origin of the outbreak is a mystery.
