PersonaL Mr. A. Church, of Mangaore, returned home this mornmg after spending a short holiday in the Waikato district. Strong Athletic Team. Shannon -will field a strong team of athletes and cyclists this year. The track competitors of last season jhave shown considerable improvement during practices this year and the numbers have been inereased. Cycle riders have also improved and this season will see many new riders competing. Manawatu Electorate. The printing of the supplementary roll for the Manawatu electorate was undertaken at Foxton last week. There were 13,416 names on. the main roll and the supplementary increases this to 14,394. There were 394 deletions recorded in the supplementary, however, so that Manawatu's voting power, including declaration votes, is 14,000. Eighty-seven changes of address are recorded in the supplementary roll. Sports Postponed. ' The opening meeting of the Shannon Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club's 1949 season, which was to have been held last evening, was postponed. Heavy rain fell almost continuously yesterday morning causing the track to toecome waterlogged and conditions underfoot were very damp. Anattempt was made to roll the track in the late aftenroon, when officials found that it was unwise to hol'd the meeting and perhaps imdo the long period of work spent on the cycle track. Foxton Racing Club. ; A special meeting of the Foxton Racing Club was held in the Town Hall, Foxton, on Friday eveiiing as a result of the club receiving a requisition from 15 members asking • that business tran'sacted at the annual general meeting held on September 30 be declared null and void and that the rules be revised. There was an attendance of upwards of 80 members and the request of the petitioners 'insofar-^s it referred to the election of. -officers wa!s defeated. The xules were reviewed, however, and ,'the meeting ended with a motion k>f. cohfidence in the club officials.
