(N.Z.P.A.-

-Reuter.

Copyrioht)

Received Tuesday, 7 p.m. NEW YORK, Nov. 21. Field Marshal Montgomery said today that he saw no immediate threat of an open conflict in Western Europe. "If there were any immediate danger I would not be here. Would I?" he asked. Field Marshal Montgomery, who is on a friendly visit to the United States, said he did not intend to ask the United States for more American troops in Western Europe. He explained that the question of the number of troops was political in nature and said: "Soldiers do what the politicians fell them."
