Sheep Market Quieter Yesterday The sheep market at the Feilding live stock sale yesterday was quieter, due tio doubt to the fine warm weatlnr caJling farmers to the business of shearing. Aithough interest was not strong in the ofliering of station cattle of which there was a good supply, saies were made at late rates of several lines of young eattle wlneh are cleaning up well. Fat Sheep Fat sheep values dropped back on a light yarding which eveu then was in exeess of the demand, as several pens of wethers were passed in. All wether mutton sold at rates just about equal to those ruling for store wethers. A totai of 340 head was disposed of, the realisations. being: Maiden ewes 4 at 37s 4d; Down cross 2-ths. 3 at 37s 4d; 24 at 38s 7d; 17 at 39s ld; 13 at 38s lOci; 19 at 38s lOd; 37 at 39s ld; 10 at 39s ld; 24 at 39s ld; wethers, 17 at 37s 10ti; 5, at 35s; 10 at 38s 7d; 27 at 39s 7d; 15 at 38s ld; 10 at 39s ld; 12 at 39s ld; ewes, 19 at 26s 7d; 7 at 22s lOd; 35 at 32s ld. Store Sheep Round about 600 head of store sheep found buyers and an equal number faiied to impress and were passed in. Bu siness was iargely coufmed to 2 and 4-th wethers is good order and the prices paid were in line with those operating in the mutton pens. A line of 600 1-th wether was passed in as the bid•ding fell short of the reserve. Saies reicorded were: B.F. hoggets 66 at 36s 2d; 1-th ewes, 90 at 48s; 2-th wethers, 100 :it 39s lld; 105 at 39s 3d; 124 at 39s; 40 at 37s 6d; 4-th wethers, 85 at 39s ld. Station Cattle Station cattle requirements were weti supplied with a good quality offering and aithough the attendance of the publie was not great, the trading was well in line with late quotations. Yearling steers comprised the bulk of the entries and these while mostly of small size were generally in good order. Cattle with age were of medium size but useful types. The saies were: Yearling steers, 34 A.A. at £10 7s 6d; 23 A.A. at £11 17s; 28 A.A. at £11 5s; 14 A.A. at £10 4s; 27 A.A. cross at £11; 39 A.A. cross at £10 6s; 2-year steers 22 A.A. at £13 9s; 36 A.A. at £14 14s; 30 A.A. cross at £14 15s; bullocks, 12 coloured at £15; 19 A.A. at £17 15s; yearling heifers 19 A.A. at £7 17s 6d; 2-year heifers S A.A. at £10; 15 Hereford at £10 15s; 3-year lieifers, 30 A.A. at £13 15s. Fat Cattle The best of the beef on offer comprised Aberdeen Angus station cows in clean order, young and not too heavy. An odd fat and forward steer was also traded and prices were in keeping with quotations for the types offered. The saies were: A.A. cows £14 7s' Od; A.A. heifers £10 4s; £10 7s Od to £14 5s; 1! and f A.A. bullock £19 5s; 5 steers light order and small £17 19s; runner £9; ex-dairy cow £9. Dairy cattle Entries in the dairy cattle department attraeted active interest and saies were in line with late quotations. The realisations were: Spring cows £6 15s, £11, £14 15s to £16; springing heifers £11 15s, £13, £13 15s, £16 10s, £16 15s to £.17 5s; 2-year heifers £8 11s; yearling heifers £4 17s 6d, £6 10s, £8, £8 ls, £b 5s, £8 15s, £9 2s 6d, £9 10s to £12; cow in milk £14; heifer in milk £10 10s; dairy bulls £8, £8 10s, £9 5s, £9 17s 6d, £10 5s to £13. Store Cattle A moderate yarding of store cattle sold at late rates at the foliowing prices, Boner cows, £4 15s, £5 5s, £6, £6 5s, £6 15s, £7, £7 12s 6d, £7 15s, £7 17s 6d, £8, £8 5s; cows and caives £8 10s, to £10 5s; steers £9 7s 6d; empty heifers, £7 15s, £8 5s to £9 15s. .
