Killed By Lightning During Violent Storm

Sl'DNEY, Nov. 18. j Violent storms in Sydney resulted | in the death of one man and a trail ' of damage from lightning and flooding. Mr William Caddev, 52, greenkeeper, was struck dead by lightning when he took shelter with his motor-mower under a tree on the Killara golf course. Lightning struck an eleetric train on a suburban line and blew out the electrical systems on three of the four driving carriages, but injured nobody. Interferences with power supplies delayed several other trains. Tiles were shattered and rafters splintered, when lightning struck a new block of flats in the suburb of Artarmon. One rafter was driven through the ceiling, and the rain, which entered through a hole, caused i eonsiderable damage. A fireball scorcli- j ed the back gardens, and lightning' ripped the bark from trees. The storm was of short duration and wikl couditions are predicted.
