Massey College Wool Jonrnal
The official journal of the Massey College Wool Association, known as "Wool," has now been published and offers much of general and scientific interest. '■2The aim of the association is for greater all-round efiiciency in the production and marketing of New Zealand wools, but its journal is not narrowed to t'he consideration of purely Dominion matters. Such subjects as the American wool tariff, and sideiights on the sheep and wool industry of South America and of China, are treated in an interesting manner, while the New Zealand representative on the In'ternational Wool secretariat aas subscribed a provocative article on the question of synthesics. Some points relating to quality number are authoritatively treated, as are several other aspects of technical interest. In a survey of the returns from various types of sheep farms in New Zealand, the financial importance of wool to the farmer suggests the need for careful thought joncerning the trends in breeding aims. The editorial pages give scope for thought on the whole subject of wool and its niarketing •to the grower's and broker's best advantage. The promise . shown in the first two numbers of "Wool" indicates that this journal will find a prominent place in the world of wool in many eountries. This journal, the circulation of which has been practically- doubled, owes its origin to ex-students of the Massey Agricultural College annual wool course. These men hold a refresher course each year and have several ambitious projects in hand.
